Who we are
Healthy Harvest Kitchen Gardens is an organic Permaculture-based food gardening, education and advisory service located in the Blue Mountains, Australia, and operating across the wider Sydney area.
Healthy Harvest Kitchen Gardens is a family business. Over the last 10 years we have grown to be one of Sydney's premier organic kitchen garden growing services. We are proud to have been part of many of the amazing community gardens around our city, as well as supporting schools and universities, residential homes, and of course, our huge network of backyard gardeners. We specialise in advice and education about chemical-free food growing as well as sustainable water, heat and lifestyle technology.
Daniel Hatfield is the founder of Healthy Harvest Kitchen Gardens. He is a passionate organic food gardener, educator and Permaculturist. His approach to food gardening is ‘beyond organic’, using a wholistic perspective and addressing issues at their core, rather than use quick-fix sprays or fertilisers, either organic or inorganic. He takes his inspiration from the principles of Permaculture, as well as organic farmers such as Eliot Coleman and Joel Salatin. He especially enjoys helping people learn to grow their own food. Dan completed his Permaculture Design Certificate with Geoff Lawton at the Permaculture Research Institute, and has additional qualifications in art, photography and design.
Dan gives talks and runs workshops throughout the wider Sydney region, and enjoys working with community gardens and organisations. If you would like to book him for a workshop or other event, please contact us
Dan’s work has been featured on
Channel 7 Sydney Weekender, as well as newspapers, US Permaculture podcast “Permies” by Paul Wheaton and Australian sustainability podcast “The Greening of Gavin“.
